Although the steelwork of fendering is often electrically isolated from the main jetty structure, effective protection can be easily achieved by the use of flexible bonding, bringing the fendering within the scope of the jettys cathodic protection system.

As most jetty CP systems are designed with spare capacity this does not present a problem.
